Under the Start-up Visa program, the following documents are necessary for immigration:
What Does Permanent Resident Mean?
A Permanent Resident refers to an individual who has obtained permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada, but has not yet become a Canadian citizen.
This status is comparable to having a permanent place of residence. It is important to note that individuals in Canada on a temporary basis, such as students or foreign workers, do not hold permanent resident status.
As a permanent resident of Canada, you are entitled to various benefits similar to those received by Canadian citizens, including access to healthcare and the ability to live, work, or study in Canada. You possess nearly the same rights as Canadian citizens, with a few exceptions.
For instance, you are not eligible to vote, run for political office, or hold certain positions that require high-level security clearance.
Permanent resident status can be lost if you voluntarily renounce it, if a removal order is issued and enforced against you, or if you become a Canadian citizen.
To maintain your permanent resident status, you must have resided in Canada for at least 730 days within the past 5 years. These 730 days do not need to be consecutive, and some time spent abroad may count towards meeting this requirement.
Even if you do not meet the residence obligation, you will still retain your permanent resident status until an official decision is made regarding your status.

Statement of Account
When applying for immigration, it is necessary to demonstrate proof of funds to ensure you have enough financial resources to support yourself and any dependents upon arrival in Canada.
The required amount varies depending on the size of your family. Typically, providing an account statement or reference confirming the availability of funds is sufficient.
For instance, if you are immigrating without a family, you will need to have a minimum of $13,310
Canadian dollars in your account. For a family of three, the required amount is $20,371 Canadian dollars. It is important to note that these figures are regularly updated.
It is not required to invest your own funds in your company or business. Instead, you can explore opportunities to attract investments while in Canada or obtain a loan from a bank.
What Does Innovative Business Mean?
Innovation is commonly associated with groundbreaking advancements like space flights or new aircraft turbines.
However, in this context, innovation refers to significant improvements in existing products or services that enhance efficiency or quality and meet market demands.
Let's explore three ways to determine if your idea is innovative, along with examples:
Novelty: A key indicator of innovation is the novelty of your idea, even if similar concepts existed before. The innovative aspect lies in simplifying or combining existing elements to create something new. For instance, in a confectionery production, introducing a special printer that uses food coloring to apply images onto cakes simplifies the process compared to manual decoration.
Potential: Innovative ideas can have transformative potential, altering industries or markets. Consider a vehicle rental business that previously required customers to rent cars for a full day and travel to a specific parking lot. By creating a network of parking lots throughout the city and offering flexible renting options through a dedicated app, the business revolutionizes the market, providing more convenience and accessibility.
Market Demand: An idea that addresses a current or future need is considered innovative when customers are willing to pay for the product or service.
For example, consider a coffee shop where customers value the quality of their coffee but dislike waiting. Some coffee chains have developed their own apps that allow customers to pre-order their favorite beverages on their way to the shop. This enables customers to pick up their order immediately upon arrival, minimizing waiting times.
Innovative ideas that reduce client time and effort can be found in various industries. Examples include McDonald's focus on reducing waiting times, Ikea's furniture that customers can assemble themselves without relying on an assembler, and Amazon's ability to provide home purchases. The possibilities for innovative ideas are virtually limitless.
To summarize, an innovative idea is characterized by three factors: novelty, revolutionary potential, and market demand.
If you're interested in testing your business idea, you can sign up for a meeting where we can discuss your business or idea and help identify the innovative components within it.
How Many Applicants Can Be There?
To be eligible for this immigration program, there can be a maximum of 5 applicants (5 founders) from one business project. Each founder must own at least 10% of the project, which means that upon arrival in Canada, you will need to establish a legal entity with the corresponding shares.
Furthermore, the applicant or applicants will be required to create a company where they collectively own more than 50% of the total voting rights. It is important to note that a business project majority-owned by a venture fund is not acceptable under this program.
Additionally, each co-founder planning to immigrate must bear the cost of education and participate in training provided by a business incubator.
How Soon Can You Arrive?
Here are two potential options for you to consider:
To help you navigate through these options, we have created a step-by-step plan on a separate page.
In Case of Business Closure
The Canadian government recognizes that not every business venture will be successful, and they have measures in place to ensure that the failure of a business does not have a negative impact on your permanent resident status.

The information provided on this resource is intended as a general guide and should not be considered as comprehensive legal or immigration advice.
While the data presented aligns with the legal regulations in effect at the time of publication, it is important to be aware that regulations and legal provisions can change. Therefore, there is always a possibility that certain information may become outdated over time.
To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data, it is recommended to verify all information on the official websites of the Canadian government.
Biometrics Collection
To obtain a Canadian visa, it is generally necessary to provide biometrics, which include a photograph and fingerprints of all ten fingers.
However, there are certain exemptions to biometric collection. The requirement to provide biometrics for a Canadian visa does not apply to the following cases:
If you are required to provide biometrics, you need to ensure that you bring the following documents to your biometrics appointment:
It is important to note that when applying for permanent resident status, you will need to go through the biometric collection process again, even if you have previously provided fingerprints for a Canadian tourist visa.
IELTS
The IELTS English language test is designed to assess your proficiency in the English language, but in practice, it often reflects your preparedness for the test rather than your true language skills.
We highly recommend that you seek assistance from qualified specialists who can help you prepare for the IELTS test, even if you feel confident in your English language abilities.
The IELTS exam consists of four sections:
Please note that taking the IELTS test is not required for admission to a business institute; it is only necessary for Permanent Residence applications.
Here's some good news: The program you are considering requires a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 5 in either English or French, which corresponds to a B1 level of proficiency.
Medical Examination
Undergoing a medical examination is a mandatory requirement for immigration to Canada.
Once you have collected and submitted the required documents and they have been reviewed by the immigration officer, you will receive an invitation for a medical examination. Rest assured that completing this examination successfully will likely result in the issuance of the necessary documents for entry into the country.
After receiving a referral for the examination, you can visit the relevant section on the Government of Canada's website to select a preferred country where you can undergo the examination. You will then need to contact the clinic directly to schedule an appointment.
Here are the documents you need to bring with you for the medical examination:
It is important to note that the results of the medical examination are valid for a period of 12 months. If your spouse is pregnant, it may not be possible to undergo a complete examination due to the restrictions on taking X-ray images. In such cases, you will need to contact the Immigration Service for further guidance and assistance.
